Ecobuild 2014: The opportunity for localised energy systems

The opportunity for localised energy systems presentation at Ecobuild 2014 from Mark Wray, Lead Technologist – Low Impact Buildings, Technology Strategy Board and Emilia Melville, Engineer, Buro Happold.

There is no doubt that localised and neighbourhood energy projects are evolving - new business & financial models are developing all the time as different legal structures and variations of partnership schemes emerge. Localised energy solutions can deliver much-needed carbon savings; and can engage and enrich local communities, providing secure local low-carbon power and heat. This session includes case study examples which demonstrate that ambition need not be capped at the immediate vicinity - communities can think big about scale and ambition and provide bankable benefits. This session will unravel the complexities around how to develop and fund localised energy systems.
