Ecobuild 2014: Resilient infrastructure - designing the underworld

Resilient infrastructure - designing the underworld is tackled at Ecobuild 2014 by Professor Chris Rogers.

Most people only think about infrastructure when it fails. This ranges from the mild inconvenience of being stuck on a train, loss of business because of power cuts to the misery of flooding. On a positive note infrastructure is much more effective when integrated with other forms of service. Conventional infrastructure should also be integrated with green infrastructure to make using roads and railways more pleasant and in some instances replacing it with a green walk for example; green infrastructure can also make a positive contribution to storm water management, air quality and urban cooling. This session looks at strategies for successfully delivering resilient, integrated green and grey infrastructure.
