Ecobuild 2014: Standard good fabric & renewables approach
Since the Government has reduced its carbon targets by settling on just the 6% uplift in efficiency standards for new domestic buildings from April 2014, the ambition to ensure that all new build homes are zero carbon by 2016 is presenting an increasingly steeper climb for designers and developers. If zero carbon homes by 2016 are looking less achievable, how low should housebuilders go? What is the best approach? This session considers fabric-first design imperatives; the role of renewables; and what impact will the watered down definition of zero carbon have on near-zero homes?
