Mitsubishi Electric UK: Melcotel System Case Study

Premier Inn required a more efficient air conditioning system in order to reduce their on-site energy consumption, CO2 emissions and running costs through a new control interface. The air conditioning system was left unchanged and only the controls were modified. Premier Inn agreed to use the Leicester hotel as a test site of the Mitsubishi Electric Melcotel system for a period of 18 months during which it would be monitored and analysed. The overall target set by Whitbread was for a 20% savings in energy for a potential roll-out on new build projects. Without reaching this target, the roll-out would not be considered viable.
