Natural building materials - the essential choice for healthy buildings or an expensive luxury?

Concerns about the serious damage that trapped moisture can do to the building fabric have lead many construction professionals to search for materials that can minimise this risk.

Andrew Mitchell [MD], from leading providers of natural building materials NBT, will be discussing a range of innovative, breathable building materials and how they perform compared to the more conventional materials commonly used.

Innovations in natural fibre technology have produced materials that outperform synthetic insulation, as they can 'breathe', wick moisture and regulate building temperature in both the summer as well as the winter. They are also 100% natural and can lock up carbon over their lifetime.

Andy will explain all the advantages of using natural materials such as wood fibre, cellulose, sheepswool, hemp together with technical research that illustrates how they can manage moisture including how they can deal with the inevitable moisture generated within buildings - to produce healthy, long lasting, low impact buildings.
