Property Flood Resilience Database

With funding from Innovate UK, BRE with partners Axa and Lexis Nexis are developing a Property Flood Resilience Database. It will provide the missing piece of data that will provide more appropriate pricing for properties in flood risk areas or where properties have suffered repeat flooding.

By aggregating datasets from maps, exposure zones and insurers own data, the project team aim to provide robust data for insurers to more accurately reflect flood risk. Moreover insurers and homeowners will be able to accurately evaluate the risk of flooding and use quantitative analysis to more accurately value flood resilience measures.

The team envision that this kind of data based approach will enable building owners to increase their investment in flood resilience technologies and interventions by helping insurers to recognise and quantify the benefits of flood resilience strategies.
