PassivTen: Developing options for refurbishment of tenement properties in Glasgow`s East End to PassivHaus standard
This project has been developed in response to the transfer of tenemental property to Milnbank Housing Association from Glasgow Housing Association, and the rising fuel prices that tenants are facing.
The project is collaboration between Milnbank Housing Association, MEARU at the Glasgow School of Art, 55 North Architecture and Towler and Hyslop quantity surveyors. The study will develop strategies to reduce energy use by 30%, 50% and to PassivHaus (ENERPHIT) standard for refurbishment. These strategies will consider physical refurbishment such as insulation, heating systems, window replacement and draught proofing together with resident guidance on utilising systems efficiently for lower bills and good indoor air quality. This report from 2013 documents the research project, and its findings.
