Procuring Low Energy Buildings

This 1 day course will provide attendees with an understanding of the key issues associated with successfully procuring low energy performance in housing and buildings. Its aim is to provide insight into how low carbon building performance can be secured through the procurement process, as applicable to retrofit of existing buildings and to new build, including: familiarity and confidence with energy and carbon targets, fundamental design principles, construction methodologies and project specifications that are relevant for the procurement of low energy sustainable buildings.
The course covers:
- The implications of specifying measurable targets in building procurement
- The strategies for and benefits of procuring low energy sustainable buildings
- The role of energy modelling, building standards and building monitoring
- The different roles involved in achieving successful procurement of low energy buildings
