Framework Standard for the Responsible Sourcing of Construction Products (BES6001) Issue 3.0

BRE Global has launched a framework standard (BES 6001) for the Responsible Sourcing of Construction Products. The standard sets out requirements under 3 main headings:

1. Organisational management
2. Supply chain management
3. Environmental and social issues

To meet this Standard, organisations must satisfy certain compulsory elements. In addition, there are higher levels of compliance that can result in a higher performance rating being awarded. This standard will also provide a route to obtaining credits under the BREEAM family of certification schemes.

This framework standard provides good guidance to both manufacturers and specifiers of construction products on the issues that should be considered in relation to responsible sourcing. It contains targets within each area that can be used to measure sucess.
